Promises.

I'm doing this.. and writing at 4 a.m because of a promise i made to a friend. Dear Friend, I hope I post this on my blog before you got the chance to read the last post. I hope you got home from a long travel, too wasted to get to the computer. That you'd be able to see this only today, virtually, the way I did in my head. I hope I don't disappoint you.. or myself.

DISCLAIMER: This is not what i came up with. It just came to me in a dream, and it was so beautiful that i just HAD to put it down. But yeah, what got me out of bed was the promise I made my friend.( btw, Mr.Friend I hope you realize that me getting out of bed JUST. DOESN'T. HAPPEN. Well, at least not usually)

so yeah here's how it looked like-

There's a boat. A cruise-ship of some kind with an open-house kind of buffet on it. It looks thoroughly extravagant. On the boat, there's a girl who, in reality, came to this event just so that she could have a chance with this guy that she just wishes she could be with. I get a glimpse of the guy. Just from the back, when he turns to look at someone and laugh at a trivial joke politely. He doesn't look very impressive to me, but I sense the breath catching in her lungs every time she looks at him. (He resembles a chubbier Christopher Nolan.) Everybody on the boat's in black. Not the funeral-kind.. the tres chic kind. (No, I don't know how to put the accent on the "e" when I'm typing with a normal keyboard.)
Poor soul, she. He doesn't even know of her existence as of now. (She looks a lot like a little overweight Lindsay Lohan who's a brunette)

Enter- A preppy guy who stays in your memory for a while even if you don't want him to. He doesn't look handsome. He looks... unusual. And it's actually kind of obvious that he has no business being here although he's wearing the same kind of clothes everybody else is. (In my dream, it is a blond Steve Buscemi.)
He smiles as is necessary, spots her, and makes his way to her through the crowd. They are best friends.

She pulls him aside, and shows him the guy. They talk in hushed whispers, while looking at him, and I can't hear what they say.

The next thing I know, Steve is at his table, and they're laughing. Christopher seems to have been impressed by Steve in some way. Steve knows this full well, and gives Lindsay the green signal. Now's her chance to get introduced to him...but her hands are shaking, and she drops a glass of something on her dress. The dress that she hired just for this.
While she apologizes to them and backs off to a corner where she can properly freak out for what just happened; a tall, slender, beautiful-looking red-head walks over to their table, and flirts with Christopher.
Steve squirms in his seat as he wishes Lindsay would make it quick and get there. The red-head wins some headway and jokes with Christopher. You can see the tension in Steve's jumpy actions as he moves over to give the red-head a seat at Christopher's request. And then, as Lindsay appears from around the corner, Steve tells the red-head that Christopher is his lover, and that this was an inside joke. A bet to see if Christopher could reel a woman in, and to check how long he might be able to keep her. He earns a shocked look from Christopher who gets a slap from the red-head.

Apparently Christopher owns the boat, and is the one conducting the open-house, so he has Steve escorted away after a public announcement that he will not tolerate such behavior in the name of humor, while he apologizes to the red-head. Lindsay turns, and tears stream down her face as she walks away.

Later, she screams at Steve for pulling such a stunt and getting himself embarrassed. She thinks nothing is worth getting her best friend insulted for.
He looks at her and replies, "Hey, you're my best friend. And a promise is a promise" and she sees something that she never knew she would. Something that was a very watered-down version of the saying 'Greater love has no man than this.. that he lay down his life for his friends'.

P.S. the dream was much better. I don't know if I've done it justice.
